At Lake Tahoe, “There is no way to estimate the advantage a community derives from having some place near at hand where tired and sick people can go to draw fresh strength from nature.”

-Reno Evening Gazette, “Our Pleasure Resorts,” July 19, 1882

Welcome to the Recreation Page!

Lake Tahoe is a year round playground for visitors from all over the world.  Of course there is the stunning Lake itself on which to water ski, boat, sail, paddle board, jet-ski, canoe, kayak, swim and cruise.  The beaches are public and private, rocky and sandy, pet and kid friendly or adults only, for folks to party on or find serenity.  The surrounding mountains offer hiking trails and the small towns around the lake offer dining, drinking, shopping and tourist activities as well.   Over the last century, recreational possibilities at Lake Tahoe have greatly expanded.  Millions of visitors travel to Lake Tahoe for boating, hiking, camping, skiing, gambling and other entertainment choices.  To allow you to have a deeper exploration of these countless opportunities and experiences of fun at Lake Tahoe, we have created two separate pages for Summer Recreation and Winter Recreation.
